First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Southern Veterinary Partners.
Project Manager
The interview process was pretty involved, with a few phone chats, video calls, and even an out-of-state in-person visit. Everyone was really nice and seemed genuine, and the early on parts felt good. They mentioned some travel would be needed early on, but that seemed to ramp up as we talked more. Also, they wouldn't share bonus details upfront, saying they wanted to see 'how serious people are about the role,' which felt a bit off. After the onsite, they said they were really interested in hiring me and wanted me to chat with one last leader. That last chat didn't go as well though, and my questions about the job and company seemed to put them on the defensive, changing the vibe. I was supposed to hear back the next week, but it took several weeks to get a rejection email. By then I'd already gotten another offer, but hopefully, they'll think about how their leaders talk to candidates, be upfront about job expectations, and make sure the whole process respects people's time and effort.
- Can you share an instance where you made an error and describe the steps you took to rectify it?
Staff Accountant
The hiring process was a bit much. It started with a quick phone screen. Then, I had a 30-minute interview with two peers, followed by another 30-minute session with two managers. After that, they sent me a personality quiz and a link to a reference check website. This site required me to provide 5 references with only 24 hours' notice, and they would then receive detailed surveys about my work ethic and personality. Following that, there was another round of interviews. First, I spoke with two controllers/finance folks, and then I interviewed with someone from the C-suite. This was all for a Staff Accountant role. The company was upfront about their fast-paced, work hard/play hard culture, which I appreciated, and the people seemed really nice. The interviews were mostly conversational, with about 3-4 behavioral questions during the chat with the controller.
- Tell me about a situation where you had to explain an audit adjustment to a client.
Marketing Specialist
I had an HR screener call, then an interview with a team member, and finally an interview with the department lead. All of these were virtual or over the phone. After the last interview, they said I sounded perfect and asked about next steps. They mentioned scheduling time for me to come in and meet the team, but then I got ghosted. I followed up with HR a few days later and was told they decided not to fill the position, although I know they did hire someone else for it a few months later. About a year after that, a recruiter reached out to me about the same job.
- Can you discuss your general experience?
- What's your approach to managing conflict?
Digital Content Strategist
The interview process went smoothly and was handled professionally and enthusiastically at every step. I participated in four rounds of interviews. I was interviewed by one person per interview for the first three rounds, and then I met with 5+ people during the final round interview (a mixture of both group and individual format). The interviews at the beginning of the process were virtual and the final stage interviews were in person. I had a great interview experience, and the intentionality that the team puts into the hiring process was very evident to me.
