First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Southern Star Central Gas Pipeline.
Attorney
It was a board interview with several people, some of whom you might not usually work with. It felt a bit daunting initially, but the HR rep helped calm my nerves and made it feel more comfortable.
- Were you familiar with Records Inventory Management systems from previous work?
Design Engineer
It was a super thorough and technical interview with a panel. They split it into sections for my education, work experience, some behavioral questions, and an IQ test. The interview itself was planned well, but the follow-up was awful. It took them like 5 weeks to get back to me with a decision, and they just left me hanging. The HR person wouldn't even give me a simple yes or no. Really bad experience, they should seriously improve their professionalism with candidates.
- Tell me about your professional accomplishments.
- What makes you want to work for this company?
- What kind of training do you think you'd need to do this job effectively?
Analyst
I had a really nice chat with an HR person who knew their stuff. It was a group interview setting where we talked about my background, education, and skills, but it felt pretty laid-back. I got an offer within a week, which came with 3 weeks of PTO in the first year and other great benefits.
- Can you tell me about someone you consider an excellent communicator and explain what made them so effective?
Intern
Everyone I talked to in the interview process was really helpful. The interview was pretty standard, no weird questions. You should probably go over common interview questions and think about specific examples from your past jobs (good or bad) that really stand out.
- What skills do you possess that would be beneficial for this role?
- Can you share an instance of a challenge you encountered and explain how you overcame it?
