First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Southern Farm Bureau Life.
IT Intern
It was a super casual interview where they mostly asked about subjects on your resume. They want you to explain your projects and experiences while also asking questions. The interviewers were very friendly and also wanted to know about me outside of school and projects. Be able to talk about hobbies and interests to see if you are a cultural fit.
- Tell me about a time you demonstrated leadership.
- Can you walk me through some of the projects and experiences on your resume?
- What can you tell me about yourself outside of academics and projects?
Life Service Specialist
The interview process was light and easy. At both interviews, I felt like I was talking to family instead of strangers. This was my 2nd position within this company so there were 2 interviews.
- What are some learnings from your previous position that you can apply to this role?
Programmer
I was interviewing for an applications development internship. The process probably wasn't as intense as for a full-time role. It involved two interviews, one with HR and one with an applications development manager, both on the same day. The HR interview was brief, covering personality, work ethic, and school involvement. Due to an unexpected departure, I ended up interviewing with the HR Manager. After that, I met with the applications development manager. He asked about my programming languages and comfort levels, as well as my availability for work considering my full-time student status and grades. This was followed by a short quiz where I had to write a simple function to solve a problem. We then reviewed the quiz together.
- Is there anything about yourself you'd like to share with us?
- Tell me about one thing you would like us to know about you?
Associate Underwriter
I was in a conference room with 2-3 people, who seemed to be UW Managers, Trainers, or higher-ups. They asked me a bunch of questions, some about me personally and some about work. It felt pretty laid-back, like a conversation.
