So I went in and had to wait a bit for the service manager. Then, the manager and assistant manager interviewed me about different things. After that, they showed me around the area briefly. They also explained the entire process to me.

I really enjoyed the interview process. It wasn't too tough, with standard questions and friendly people who made me feel comfortable. I appreciated that there were only two interviewers, which kept the pressure low.

Man, this was a waste of my time. I talked to the Service Center Manager twice. First time was in August 2011 for a driver job. He seemed interested, said he'd run my background and get back to me. Three weeks later, nothing. I checked, and the background check was done. I contacted him, and he said they weren't hiring because of 'numbers dipping.' Later, I found out he hired someone else. Why not just be upfront? Then, in December 2011, the manager calls me for another interview for a driver position. I went, answered questions about job situations, and again he said he was interested. He mentioned running my background again. Nothing had changed since the last check. A week later, I saw a new job listing for the same position at the same place. I never heard from the manager. Even a senior driver referred me. I found out from another driver that the boss hired someone else again. In trucking, a background check usually means they want to hire you. This guy was messing with me, twice. It's a good company, I hear, but don't play with people's feelings. I won't apply or answer his calls again. Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me. I don't know what kind of person he's looking for. If I don't make the cut with my experience and references, who will? I'm not begging for a job.

It was a positive experience with the right attitudes. The whole thing took about 3-4 weeks, done step-by-step. They have an open door policy where everyone, from the terminal manager to the drivers, is on the same page. They're very flexible, but it's definitely not a place for people who slack off. Safety is their top priority and main goal, which is really impressive.
