First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at South Dakota Mines.
Student Life Activity Director
I had video conferences with two people and a silent third. My feed didn't work but they didn't reschedule. I asked to shadow the job and they said no. The interview was fine but they ran out of time for my questions. They half-heartedly told me to email them and then didn't respond. I'm not really sure the interviewers were confident or comfortable. I heard that jobs are rarely posted without candidates already lined up by middle management.

Postdoctoral Researcher
The hiring process was pretty straightforward: I applied online, had a telephone interview, went through a background check, and then got an offer letter. Overall, the interview was easy. Most of the questions were about my research background and technical skills. I got confirmation during the interview and received the offer letter about 3 weeks later.
- Could you introduce yourself?
Research Assistant
The interview was a straightforward conversation with my supervisor. We discussed my research interests and my motivations for pursuing graduate studies. My supervisor also inquired about my prior laboratory, field sampling, and data analysis experience, with a particular emphasis on knowledge of GC. It was a positive interaction overall, and I ultimately received and accepted an offer.

Assistant Professor
The interview process was pretty standard for an Assistant Professor role. I met with the manager and some other team members. They also gave me a tour of the campus with an ambassador.
