Contact Center Service Representative
I put my application in on Indeed and right away, within a day or two, a Talent Recruiter shot me a text. We scheduled a quick chat to go over the job details, the company, and what they stand for. After that first 'screening,' we booked another time for a proper interview over Zoom, which lasted about an hour. They asked a bunch of questions focused on customer service and how I'd handle different situations, since that's what I'm applying for. Honestly, SCFCU was super thorough with everything, which was a bit intimidating but overall a good experience. The recruiter was really nice and kept me in the loop the whole time.

I started with a phone call with HR where we discussed the job details. They asked some introductory questions and outlined the interview stages. Next, I received some quizzes via email, including a job simulator, which took about an hour and fifteen minutes to complete. The last step was a final interview that was pretty extensive and lasted around an hour. Throughout the process, the team was very supportive, providing ample opportunities to ask questions and always being helpful when I did.
- Can you share some experiences from your previous roles?
- How would you describe your potential fit within our team culture?
- Could you explain your typical working style?

Applied online and got a response pretty fast. The recruiter was great and super responsive with updates and next steps. First up was a phone call with a talent acquisition rep. After that, they sent over an assessment with two questions to answer verbally on the phone. Then, there was an in-person interview that lasted about an hour, mostly covering my past work experience and resume details. Once I cleared the in-person, they ran a background check and contacted two professional references. After passing that, a drug test was required, and then I got the offer. Honestly, it was one of the smoothest interview processes I've been through.
- Tell me about what drives you at work.
- Describe a time you dealt with an unhappy customer.
- Have you had any sales experience?

This interview was really awkward. It felt very clicky, and management doesn't seem to know much about IT beyond their one vendor, Spectrum. I've worked in IT for credit unions for over 20 years, and this was the most insulated group I've encountered. They all came from Spectrum, so that's all they use, which is like saying you'll only eat at McDonalds. I've worked with Spectrum shops before and they are full of bugs. They were proud to be a beta site for disastrous releases and explained how they fixed issues, which is weird. Normally, if something keeps failing, you replace it. It was strange how proud they were of their narrow focus. When I tried to mention other, better products, they cut me off because they ONLY deal in Spectrum. I don't know much about this credit union, but the employees must have headaches dealing with this one vendor known for bad releases and old tech. I got an offer but turned it down because I wouldn't work for such narrow-minded people. I wish them luck.
- Can you tell us about your experience working with credit unions?
- What software packages have you used in your roles?
- Given that many of our employees have been here for a long time, do you see yourself staying with us long-term?
