First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Sopheon.
Software Engineer
The first interview involved discussing a project I had on Github, focusing on its general functionality. The second interview was similar but more detailed, wanting a walkthrough of one of my repositories. I felt the process was negative because I didn't get clear feedback on why things didn't work out.
- Can you explain the functionality of one of your Github projects?
- Could you provide a more in-depth walkthrough of one of your repositories?
- How would you refactor some of the code in my repository?
Technical Consultant
It was a phone screen with the recruiter (3rd party), then we had an in-person with two team leads, a system architect, and the COO. The interview got postponed a few times cuz they wanted all four interviews back-to-back-to-back. All interviews were one on one, and some questions were repeated. They are really focused on if you're a good fit for them and if they're a good fit for you (which is different from most companies).
- Can you describe yourself in a single word?
- Could you write SQL statements for Insert, Select, and Join?
Technical Consultant
I applied online and got a really fast call back from a recruiter. Soon after that, I went in for an in-person interview with one person. The recruiter wasn't very professional and seemed unprepared. They misspelled my name in emails, sent me info for the wrong job after our call, and gave me prep topics that we never even discussed. The interviewer was nice though. Even though I was caught off guard by some questions, it wasn't a terrible interview. I'd have thought well of it if it wasn't for the weird answer I got when I asked about female developers. I noticed there weren't any women when I went in, so I asked if they had any female developers, and they were evasive, saying it's illegal to provide that info. Kinda unsettling!
- What's your reason for leaving your present employment?
- Can you describe how you fit the requirements for this position?
Innovation Consultant
I was reached out to by a recruiter in Maastricht and Sopheon was recommended. I went through 6 interviews, touching on management disciplines, with people from the UK, US, and Netherlands. All the interviews were pretty informal, giving me space to show my value. They gave feedback pretty quickly.
- Inquiring how I approach software implementation.
- Inquiring how I approach innovation management.
- Inquiring how I approach management of multi client scenarios.
