Got a call from a friendly recruiter about a Web Applications Developer role in new London offices, supporting internal apps from a US team, with a 3-week training trip to LA and good pay. The first interview was in the central London office with an American manager, more about my experience than super technical. I passed that to a Skype video call with my potential boss, who seemed happy with my relevant experience. The final round was a tough Skype technical interview with two US team members. They were not very conversational and asked specific .Net interview questions, some quite obscure, making it feel more like a test than a discussion. It wasn't a comfortable experience.

Confirmed questions2 questions
  • Would you feel disadvantaged being in London on your own supporting the apps while being part of a US development team, considering the time difference might make interaction harder and potentially limit your ability to push for ideas and collaborate equally?
  • Would you feel bad being here in London on your own supporting the apps but officially being part of a development team which is in the US because it would be more difficult to interact with them for the time difference, and also, because being far away would mean that I won't be able to push for my ideas and collaborate equally?

A recruiter called me to set up two interviews happening very close to each other. The first one was on the phone, and the second one was supposed to be on Skype but ended up being on the phone too, right after the first. Both interviews were on Wednesday. I got an offer right after and was told I needed to finalize everything by Friday to fly to California on Sunday for work starting Monday. They mentioned training started two weeks ago and they just found my resume. It felt like too little time for me to make a proper decision. They also said they are looking for many people with my background.

Behavioral Other

This was a very quick interview process. I didn't get much information about where the company was going or what they wanted to achieve. There was hardly any direction given during the interview. It was clear from the beginning that the manager I'd report to didn't have much hands-on experience. The HR department at that location when I interviewed and worked there was the least organized I've ever encountered in my career. I wouldn't suggest this place to job seekers.

Confirmed questions1 question
  • Were you open to working a split shift between the 2nd and 3rd shifts? HR played no role in the interview, follow-up, or ongoing issues at the facility.

Behavioral Presentation Case

To start, there was an Assessment Center interview. Then, the second round involved an interview with my direct superior and HR. I had to prepare and deliver a presentation, after which I answered further questions. Finally, I was asked to manage two specific prepared scenarios focusing on people management and conflict resolution. An online questionnaire or assessment was also required beforehand.

Confirmed questions2 questions
  • Can you detail your prior work experience, including duties and responsibilities pertinent to this role?
  • How would you approach and resolve a given situation or problem?
