It was a deep dive interview, they asked about my past experiences and then drilled down with lots of follow-up questions. There were 3 rounds. The first was with HR and was pretty easy. The last two were with the marketing manager and a senior representative.

I applied online and got an email to set up the first interview the same day. I got back to them and set up the HR interview for a couple days later. That interview went well, and I was told I'd hear back in 1 to 2 days about the manager's availability for the 2nd interview. I heard back 2 days later that they weren't interested anymore. I found out they had contacted mutual contacts and done a reference check without asking, letting people know I was looking for a job, which I hadn't told them about. I thought this was really unprofessional, and now I'm glad I won't be working for this manager. I'm guessing there was bad communication between HR and the manager, since the references they checked said good things about me.

A recruiter hit me up on LinkedIn, super enthusiastic about me and the company, which got me hyped too. The whole thing moved at lightning speed, with interviews lined up back-to-back, some even scheduled before the previous one! It felt like they were in a mad rush to fill the spot ASAP. First up was a chill chat with the recruiter, not many questions asked. Then I talked to the VP of HR in America, who let me do most of the asking, which was pretty neat. The fourth interview was actually set up before we even had the third one. The third interview was with the manager from the Utrecht office. The kicker was, they never mentioned they needed a Dutch speaker, so when the interviewer kicked off in Dutch, I was bummed. I'd told the recruiter I'm comfy with Dutch casually, but not really professionally with clients. Felt like a total discrimination move, honestly, they should've said that upfront.

I met with a lot of the team leads and even the VP of Engineering. They were really nice and made me feel comfortable, which was good because the interview process was pretty long. We went over a product demo and talked about the cool tech they use. They mentioned a second interview might be needed, but it depends if people are available.
