First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Sompo Holdings.
Frontend Developer
This was about an hour-long interview with two engineers. We talked mostly about my technical background and how I understand different tools and frameworks. They asked about the frameworks I used, why I picked them, and how I’ve used certain tools in projects. The questions were pretty basic, checking my practical knowledge, how I solve problems, and if I know the technologies I listed. It was a pretty standard and interesting interview that covered my tech experience and how I actually develop stuff.
- Regarding SaSS, do you have experience with it?
Underwriter Trainee
The interview process spanned nearly two months and consisted of five rounds. It involved meeting several Vice Presidents of the company and also the team I would potentially join. While the whole thing was quite a bit of work, it was pretty straightforward. Unfortunately, after not getting an offer, their feedback wasn't very helpful in terms of how I could get better.
- What makes you want to become an Underwriter?
Management Trainee
Super unprofessional HR. Went through the final round and ghosted the candidate even with attempts to get feedback. Prepped for their case interview which required days of preparation but didn’t give much feedback, pretty disappointing experience.
- Tell me why you are interested in Sompo.
- What are your 5-year career goals?
- Could you please give me an overview of your resume?
Client Management and Broker Distribution Graduate
First, I had a call with an HR person from an outsourced company. They asked basic questions about me, my university, and my motivations for applying, just to get to know me. After that, I was invited to an assessment day. In the morning, they gave us an overview of the job and the company, and we did a group presentation. We had lunch, and then in the afternoon, there were the interviews, one with HR and one with the line manager. The assessment day was followed by a background check and then an offer.
- Can you share something about yourself that isn't mentioned on your CV?
