First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at SomaLogic Operating Co., Inc..
Human Resources
This was a really long interview process, it took about 2 months from start to finish. The job details kept changing. At first, it was a remote position, but then they decided it needed to be in the office one day a week. They also changed who the position would report to because they were hiring a new manager. The interviews went like this: first a recruiter, then an HRBP, then radio silence for three weeks, then another chat with the recruiter and HRBP, followed by an interview with the Director and CHRO, and finally an on-site tour and meetings with team members.
- Why Somalogic?
Quality Assurance Manager
It started with a 30 minute call with the hiring manager. Then three more 45 minute calls on teams, each with two people. After that, a 30 minute chat with HR/Recruiting about Benefits, followed by another 30 minute interview with the hiring manager. The hiring manager interview was supposed to be right after the recruiter call but he was a no show. I was told it was a family emergency until I emailed the recruiter. I was pretty annoyed they didn't even let me know it was canceled. The no-show hiring manager call was never rescheduled. And all of this happened in the same week! I asked for an update a couple weeks later, and even 4 weeks after the interviews, the company totally ghosted me. For someone who took almost 4 hours to do what I think was way too many interviews, I felt it was super disrespectful to be ghosted.
- Can you describe your experience in QA?
- Could you share some details about your background?
- What is your experience with leadership?
Senior Manager
I did a remote interview with multiple panels, around 10 people in total, across a few days. The last interview was with HR, and it was a presentation about benefits, which felt like overkill. It seemed like the company is really disorganized, staff are overworked, and their processes aren't efficient. HR mentioned they don't have any culture initiatives, and besides the benefits, they didn't do a good job selling the role. They were also unclear about whether the job is remote, despite giving up their office lease. The HR person had bad audio and connection issues, making it hard to understand them. After everything, they said they'd reply in a week but never did, which was really unprofessional. My advice to Soma is to get a better HR team if they want to attract people.
- What are your reasons for wanting to join Somalogic?
- Can you speak to your experience in XYZ?
Research Associate
It was a really drawn-out interview process. First, there was a phone interview where I spoke with several different people on speakerphone. A few days later, I had an in-person interview with about 20 people, including both senior and junior employees. They asked me the same questions over and over for 4 hours. I talked to some people I didn't even really need to talk to, but it was a pretty good experience overall. It took a long time to hear back, but once I did the phone interview, I got an offer within a week.
- Can you elaborate on your responsibilities and accomplishments in your previous role?
