& Process

I applied online with my resume and cover letter. A recruiter from HR called me within about two weeks to set up an initial phone screening. This call was to check my general fit and discuss my experience in relation to the job. About a week after that, I had an in-person interview. The HR Manager showed me around the place, and then I met with two managers. They asked me standard interview questions about myself, my skills, and specific details about my experience and what I can do. It was a pretty relaxed interview.

I first got a call from the hiring manager about a junior help desk role, but the pay wasn't great. I told them, and they said they'd think of me for other jobs. Then, a week later, the same hiring manager called with an offer for a more senior position with better pay. I wasn't expecting that. I went to the office for the interview, and about 6 people were there asking me questions. Afterwards, they showed me around the place. A lot of the IT people were in cubicles. There was also an auto shop in the building. It seemed like a pretty okay place to work, and everyone was nice, but the work felt kind of unfulfilling. They had a 30-minute unpaid lunch, which I found a bit off-putting. They also mentioned that Chrysler is their main client and that Chrysler execs would visit often, and we'd need to appear busy when they were around, which was strange. I didn't take the job because I got a better offer elsewhere.

The interview process at SI was very smooth and well-organized by HR. I interviewed in person and met my future supervisor and the team. SI also gave me a good amount of time between my old job and the new start date, no rush at all.

I had an initial phone chat with HR. Once she felt I was a good fit, she scheduled me for an interview with the hiring manager. They fit me in super fast because the manager was gonna be out of town a lot that week.
