First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at SolPad.
Mechanical Engineer
I met with the team in a big conference room. They asked me about my past experience and had specific questions about my portfolio. I was asked to come up with solutions for some problems they presented. It's a fantastic company, and I'm really hoping to hear back with an offer. I was impressed by the caliber of the people there; they have a ton of technical knowledge from different fields, and many relocated to join the company.
- Could you tell us about your experience with materials science?
- What is your process for documentation?
- Can you explain your knowledge of plastics?
Engineer
A friend reached out and I went to the office to meet the team. Even though I didn't perfectly fit the job descriptions, I asked about opportunities for someone with my skills. They invited me back for an interview, which involved technical questions and a chat about my interests and their needs to see if I'd be a good fit.
- Complete and present a design challenge.
Software Engineer
A recruiter reached out and set up a Skype interview, but I asked to do it in person instead, and they agreed. I had two on-site interviews with the same people, one was an hour long and the other was four hours. They asked a wide range of questions covering low-level hardware, C/C++, and network design. I think I did pretty well, better than they expected. Didn't get an offer or any feedback, which makes me think some people on the panel might have been biased against me. But honestly, their salaries listed on Glassdoor are lower than what I'm looking for anyway, so it's all good.
- Design an embedded system.
- Write a function to replace a linked list with another linked list based on the data.
Senior Firmware Engineer
Recruiter called me, then we set up a technical phone screen. After that, I had an in-person interview with the whole team at their office. Since I was free, I went in right away. They made me an offer in the last HR round.
- Could you whiteboard the entire block diagram and workflow for your most recent project?
