Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Solomon Partners.
Summer Analyst
The interview process was pretty simple. It started with an online 15 minute interview with an HR rep. Then a 30 minute behavioral and technical interview with two analysts. Finally a 2 hour superday with 3 30 minute behavioral and technical interviews with a mix of analysts to MDs.
- Why Solomon?
- I saw you did a DCF for xyz on your resume, can you walk me through that process?
Analyst
I had a first round with the VP, which lasted for an hour. After that, I went through a super day, which involved five separate Zoom calls with most of the team, lasting about four hours in total. They asked me about my background, my interests, and some random technical questions. The team seemed really interested in learning more about me and what I'm into.
- Can you explain the three valuation methods and their order from highest to lowest value?
Summer Analyst
I had one 15-minute informational phone call where they just asked me to talk about myself. Then, there was a first round interview. This first round was split between behavioral and technical questions; they asked some basic technical questions from study guides and a few that weren't.
- Can you walk me through your resume?
- Could you discuss a recent M&A deal that you find interesting?
- What is your understanding of the SP Ev equation?
