Applied about a month and a half ago and got an email for a phone interview, which I thought went well. I sent an email to ask about the next steps for the in-person interview. Didn't get a direct answer, and then a month went by. I emailed again, and still no response until I finally got a rejection letter about a month later. I felt it was irresponsible and unprofessional for a prestigious institution to not communicate updates to applicants, especially since admissions had just finished, and they could have used HR or student aides for updates.

I got a call asking me to apply for this job, and luckily I already knew some of the important people from past work connections. The interview was set up in a casual round table format. They asked me a bunch of questions about how to present a brand new university to all the different groups it needs to reach. At the time, I had a young child, so I asked about being able to adjust my work hours if needed, which they said was fine.

The interview process took over a month. It started with a phone call with the whole i.t. team, where many people asked questions one after another. The questions were fairly easy, like telling about yourself, what you know about the university, its mission statement and how to use it to help students, and your hobbies. The on-site interview was a bit difficult. You're in a room with the whole i.t. team. Some questions were why choose our university, why you're the best candidate, what you know about networking, and where you see yourself in 5 years. They told me they'd make a decision in a few days, but it's been almost a month now and I haven't heard back.
