I initially met the hiring manager at a career fair. When I mentioned my talents were more suited for an administrative assistant position, I was told they would have a position opening up soon. I emailed my resume after getting home. After the office reopened from a hurricane closure, I received a call offering me a job interview the next day. I then got an email for a background check request, which I filled out. At the interview, I had to fill out a paper application with my information and references. I was interviewed by the hiring manager, the financial director (my future supervisor), and the managing director. The hiring manager gave me basic company and position info and then asked me questions. They skimmed my application/resume and asked me to discuss previous work experiences. It was a relaxed interview, mostly polite conversation. The next day, I got a call that I got the job and could start on Monday.

A recruiter reached out about an IT Account Manager role in Houston, TX with SGA, a company opening a new office there. I had an initial phone screen, then spoke with the hiring manager. After that, the hiring manager flew to Houston for a 1.5-hour in-person interview where I also got to see the new office. Over the next few days, I had 3-4 30-minute phone interviews with managing partners from sales and recruiting. Finally, SGA paid for my travel to New York for a day visit to their headquarters to experience the office environment and meet with managing partners. The whole process from the first call to the offer took about two weeks. They're serious about finding the right fit, and I enjoyed the interviews. I'm really happy working there now!

I first had a chat on the phone with Gail Green. We talked about skills I have. Being good with customers, communicating well, having a nice attitude, and wanting to learn are super important. Then we set up an in-person interview which included a chat with our recruiting manager, Elizabeth Kurian. She was nice but told me exactly what she expected.
