First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at SoftServe.
Software Engineer
The overall process is super tough and intricate. It starts with an HR chat, then moves to a project and technical questions interview. Following that, there's a deep technical interview that includes live coding. After that, you interview with the client, and finally, there's an offer call. The people are great, but it can feel like hell sometimes, especially if you're stuck on the bench and have to keep interviewing internally. But, it really does make you better professionally.
- How do you handle advanced data collections in a programming language?
- Describe how to establish a code review process to ensure application quality.
Software Development Engineer
The interview process was pretty structured and went through a lot to check both tech skills and if I'd fit in. Started with a recruiter call to go over my background and the job. Then, there were a bunch of interviews, including a technical test and some behavioral questions so I could show my problem-solving skills and what I know. They kept me in the loop about each step and the interviewers were good, easy to talk to, and clear about what they wanted. The last interview was about company values and how my skills match the job. Got feedback pretty quickly and they were respectful the whole time. Felt like it covered everything without being unfair, and I got a good vibe from the company.
- Can you explain how loops work in Node.js?
Software Engineer
This feedback is about programming certification interviews for their Software developer training center. First, there's a 2-3 hour online technical test with theory and practice. A supervisor via video is attentive and supportive, making sure you don't cheat while answering relevant questions. The main issue is the testing platform, which is buggy. You might submit incorrect code because the compiler is unreliable, even flagging incorrect answers as valid, leading to point deductions. Second, a 15-minute English video call with an examiner to assess your language level. The requirements are minimal (basic speaking/understanding), but the examiner is unfriendly, making it feel like an interrogation. They are often late, don't apologize, don't smile, stare unpleasantly, interrupt frequently, and ask inappropriate questions, seemingly trying to disrupt the conversation. Lastly, there's an indefinite waiting period for results. A 'due date' is given (a month after registration), but its meaning is unclear, and results aren't provided before or after. It's impossible to know when to expect them. Overall, it's a strange, disorganized, and unwelcoming process.
- Timed quiz on advanced/very advanced core rules of your programming language
- Two coding tasks at beginner and intermediate level
- 15 minutes of general talk about yourself
