Behavioral Presentation

I applied directly to the company. Most other interviews here appear to be the same as mine, however the lack of respect I was shown was quite shocking. I was initially degraded at the boardroom stage in front of everyone by one of the lead salesman reviewing us, to which all the other candidates agreed he was out of order. I made it to the next stage, which admittedly I was unprepared for, two of the guys interviewing were quite relaxed but one (same guy again) was very harsh and disrespectful. He told me we were the worst set of candidates he'd ever seen, I was sworn at, and I was more or less told I was useless. 10 minutes in he told me I wasn't getting the job cause he didn't like me, but continued to grill me for a further 20 minutes on how awful I was. Looking back, I'd wished I'd been more aggressive and not taken the abuse, maybe that's how I was supposed to react, but overall the treatment I received was appalling.

After a recruiter reached out on LinkedIn, I went to an assessment centre in Manchester for this role. It was about two hours long. First, HR gave an introduction and asked about our company knowledge. Then, we had sessions with different managers and team leaders, where we could ask questions and show what we knew. We also did a group pitch where we had to sell a holiday, followed by a one-minute presentation on a passion of mine, why I want to work for Softcat, and why they should hire me. I passed this stage but decided not to go to the next round, which was an individual interview.
