First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Social Finance.
Advisory Associate
The interview process was long and in depth. It began with an HR screening, followed by a take-home case given a week to complete, then a case presentation/interview, a panel behavioral interview, and an HR feedback session. Finally, there was one last behavioral interview. Despite receiving positive feedback throughout, I ultimately did not get the offer.
- Can you share an instance where you initiated and defined a new project, managing it through to its conclusion?
Associate
It was a pretty standard interview process, though things seemed a bit hectic and disorganized in the background. The questions were typical for a consulting role. They had three rounds all in one day: an initial get-to-know-you chat, a math reasoning test, and then a panel interview where I had to present a case study. Interestingly, while I was in one of the sessions, most of the staff in the next room were cheering for a tennis game. A manager even got up and left my panel interview midway through. Honestly, it felt unprofessional.
- How would you calculate the social return on investment for a project?
Analyst
The interviews themselves were fine. When they were finally set up. Weeks later than expected. It took several more than a month before I was invited for my first interview. Thereafter it was almost 2 months before I heard back. Granted, Covid had just hit so I gave benefit of doubt. But thereafter it was a series of following up, being told to expect feedback or an interview date within a certain time frame, not hearing back within said time frame and it took another month just to get an interview date. After the 2nd interview I didn't hear back for almost 2 months and it was the same back and forth. I felt really disappointed in the process. In the end I had to pull out of the process but felt I had wasted so much time and emotional energy.
- Could you conduct a cost-benefit analysis for a project?
Associate Director
The interview process started with a phone screen. After that, I had an onsite interview which included two behavioral interviews, a quantitative case interview focusing on market sizing, and a case presentation where I had to present on a case I was given beforehand.
- Can you share an instance where you led multiple teams towards a common goal?
- Describe a situation where you accomplished something under a tight deadline.
- What are some potential areas for expansion for Social Finance?
