First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Société Générale.
Investment Banking Analyst
I went through a 1st round interview and then a superday. The 1st round was with a trader, which was a bit odd, and focused on market-related questions. The superday consisted of three 30-minute interviews: one with a mix of behavioral and technical questions, another purely behavioral, and the last one technical.
- Tell me about yourself (TMAY). It was a general behavioral question, as expected.
- Can you explain how to calculate a company's EV/EBITDA?
- What is debt?
Investment Banking Analyst
I had two interview rounds. The first interview was with two associates, which was challenging but manageable. The second interview was with a director and a managing director. It could last up to six hours, making it even more difficult. However, everyone was very kind.
- Classic investment banking interview questions asked
- Brainteasers were asked
- Market sizing questions were asked
M&A
Pretty smooth process with 2 interview rounds. The first was with junior team members, focusing on my motivation and technical abilities. We covered standard valuation techniques like DCF, trading comps, precedent transactions, and LBOs. The second round was with senior folks, mostly about my fit and motivation, and also discussing my background.
- Tell me about typical valuation methods.
- Can you walk me through a DCF valuation?
- What are trading comps and how do you use them?
