Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Société Générale.
IT Analyst
First, there was an aptitude test, then a technical interview with the team leader where they did live coding and asked some basic finance questions. After that, an assessment center took place, which involved analyzing a case study and giving a 15-minute presentation on it, followed by a 30-minute group discussion. Finally, there was an HR interview.
- Could you explain what an index is?
- What are futures?
- Can you define options?
Business Analyst
There were two rounds, both medium to hard and tough respectively, followed by an HR round. The first round was medium hard and the second was tough. Topics covered were Finacle Menu and its details, Payments, Loans, BA roles and responsibilities, UAT, regression testing, BRD, and FRD (in-depth details).
- In your opinion, what is our primary requirement?
- Have you been involved in development activities for domestic payments?
- Regarding payment requirements, imagine a user needs to capture counterparty information for local addresses for each payment; this is a customization. What would be your approach?
Lead Business Analyst
Had one of the worst interview experiences. They seemed unsure about the team they were hiring for. The salary offer was low. I was asked to go through 6 interview rounds for two different teams. It was a complete waste of time with no outcome from HR. The actual interview process had 4 rounds: two technical, one manager round, and finally an HR round. The first two rounds focused on business analyst skills, Agile concepts, basic SQL queries, and in-depth questions about SWIFT messages and ISO 20022. The manager round involved situational questions, why Societe Generale, and reasons for switching from my previous company.
- Questions about Agile
- Questions on SQL Insert, Update, Delete, and Joints queries
- Questions on SEPA, SWIFT Message (Tags, Credit and Debit flows)
