First, there was a recruitment interview where we talked about my history and if I was a good fit for the role. Then, I had an interview with the hiring manager, which was similar to the first but more focused on technical aspects. Finally, there was a tech interview where I had to review a PR and present my findings.

The process felt progressive on paper, starting with a talent partner chat, followed by a take-home PR review focused on dependency trees, which was a good challenge. Then, two engineers reviewed the PR, discussed comments, and had me implement something related to it, which was described as a pair programming interview. However, the feedback was contradictory; despite things going well and discussing an edge case during the session, I was rejected for not including it initially within the 30 minutes. We also ran over time due to system design questions, which should be saved for a dedicated interview. The 'pair programming' felt more like an exam requiring perfection. Rejecting candidates for a single edge case seems counterproductive. There was also a disconnect between the TA partner emphasizing testing and the engineers not prioritizing it, each wanting different fixes. While the foundation for a good process exists, the engineering team seems unmotivated and looking for reasons to reject candidates. Internal training for engineers on interviewing could improve the experience.

The interview process started off well, and I felt good about it. After the interview, I didn't hear back for a few weeks, and my emails went unanswered. Then, I received an email saying they were pleased with my performance and wanted to proceed, asking me to wait for another email to schedule the next interview. Weeks passed again with no contact. Finally, I got a condescending email rejecting me, stating my skills weren't useful and making inaccurate claims about the interview, which happened about six weeks prior. They falsely asserted I hadn't addressed certain points during my review, which I had. They also blamed me for issues on their end, like a server installation failure that occurred while following their own guide, which they couldn't resolve, attributing it to my incompetence. The email's tone was incredibly condescending and degrading, feeling like a fabricated excuse because they changed their minds. I was initially very enthusiastic about this company and excited when they indicated they wanted to move forward to the final interview. However, this experience has made me reconsider interviewing with them again, especially after reading similar negative experiences from others.
