Operations Manager
The hiring process for the Operations Manager role was quite lengthy and a bit disorganized. The HR manager was late to start, and the interviews ran behind schedule, with only a short amount of time spent with the hiring manager. After the initial meetings, I was asked to stay for an additional hour and a half to speak with team members I had already met. The day concluded with a scheduled recap with the HR manager, but due to her prior commitments, she rescheduled for a call later that day. Before leaving, I tried to speak with the hiring manager about some concerns, but he was running late for another meeting and couldn't talk. The entire interview process, scheduled until 12:45 PM, actually finished at 2:25 PM. The HR manager did call later that evening, but the conversation was unpleasant. The meeting room itself was messy. Despite the disorganization, the team seemed very passionate and in need of leadership.

This company has a really dynamic vibe and a culture where people tend to work late, possibly even through weekends. The employees seem like a very self-aware, trendy crowd. The interviews definitely matched this vibe – I spent the entire day meeting with what felt like at least ten different people. The work itself looked engaging and the team members were pleasant, but there was a noticeable 'look how cool we are' attitude that could become tiresome. They asked many hypothetical 'what would you do if...' scenarios, including a question about which animal I'd choose to be. It really underscored the overall hipstery feel of the place.
- What animal would you choose to be, and what's your reasoning behind that choice?

The interview process at Snag A Job is quite unique and selective, reflecting their status as a top small business. Decisions are made swiftly, mirroring the fast-paced work environment. The entire staff was consistently polite and professional. Teamwork is a major focus here, and they truly mean it. It began with a 30-minute recruiter call. A few days later, a 45-minute call with the hiring manager took place. Following this, there were two in-person interviews at their office, one lasting 3 hours and the final one lasting 4 hours. I met a total of 15 people throughout the process. The process felt logical, as they are very keen on understanding candidates for the roles they fill. Preparation isn't really possible in a traditional sense, as they aren't focused on company history or key personnel. Their main interest lies in how you would handle specific situations, and how you perform under stress and pressure. Your resume is carefully reviewed, and the questions are thoughtful and substantive, aiming to understand your thought process and decision-making. I was pleased with the experience and found the interviewers to be very personable.
- What feedback would your colleagues provide about you?
Director
The interview process involved multiple stages. It began with a phone call with the HR Director, who was pleasant. Following that, I had a 30-minute conversation with a VP, which felt more like a chat than an interrogation, mainly discussing my preferred process. Then, I had an in-person meeting with the VP for about an hour, which was also conversational, focusing more on my questions about the team and company structure. The final stage was a full day of back-to-back interviews from 9 am to 4 pm with most of the directors and the CEO, each lasting around 45 minutes. These seemed primarily focused on culture fit. The process became frustrating afterwards due to a lack of communication for several weeks. I received an email on a Monday saying I'd hear back by Friday, but didn't get a response until the following Thursday. They scheduled one last call, after which I was informed I didn't get the job. Overall, it was a standard process except for the communication issues at the end.
