First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at SMS Masterminds.
Sales Associate
I went to the store and dropped off my resume in person and met with a manager there. He was super nice and said he'd check it out and call me. A few days later, I got a call to set up the first interview. After I passed that, I got another call about a week later to set up the second and final interview. The second interview covered most of the same questions as the first, but it dug more into the details of what the job actually is.
- Besides needing a paycheck, what's your primary motivation for wanting this job?
Appointment Setter
They ask you about yourself, your work experience, and do a mock interview where you try to sell them something. It's laid back and low key, but they want you to be excited about it and show that you are really interested. After you interview, if they like you, they will ask you to come in for a test day where you call companies. Don't feel bad if you don't make any appointments that day.
- Could you tell me a bit about yourself?
- Can you share some of your previous work experience?
- Let's do a mock interview where you try to sell me something.
Business Development
I reached out after seeing the posting on Craigslist. I had genuine interactions with people, not automated HR processes or calls from overseas. Luke, the COO, initiated the process. I then had two subsequent interviews: one with Luke and Alex (the CEO), and another with a group of people from the company. It felt very authentic, and the opportunity seemed genuine, offering a fresh perspective. While the tech industry often moves fast and leans towards automation, this company, in many ways, is the opposite, defying convention, which is fantastic.
- Tell me about a time you failed in life.
Inside Sales Representative
They interview you at least twice. They make it seem like they’re taking a real chance hiring you but they’ll hire anyone, they just need bodies to cold call.
- What makes you a good fit for this role?
