First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at SMS group.
Commercial Project Manager
I first talked with the Hiring Manager to see if my skills and experience matched the job and to discuss salary. Then, I had an hour-long technical interview with the Department Head (my potential line manager). We talked a lot about my past projects, asked technical and behavioral questions, and discussed things like my working style and preferred location.
- Can you tell me about your experience that is relevant to this position?
Intern
The interview with the company was very positive: I immediately felt at ease thanks to the friendly and professional atmosphere. They asked me questions relevant to my course of study, showing interest in my skills and my thesis project. Furthermore, the variety of company projects available for the internship was clearly explained to me, making the meeting very stimulating and constructive.
- What subjects are you studying for your exams?
Assistant General Manager
So the interview process was pretty straightforward. First, there was a pre-technical round, then the main technical round, and finally, the HR round. They really focused on digging into my past experience, especially concerning project commissioning. In the automation part, they wanted to know about my knowledge of PLC, HMI, and VVF drives, as well as field instruments and sensors, and also electrical cabinets and field wiring.
- Can you write an STL program to control a motor's on/off state using a single push button?
Graduate Engineer Trainee
So first, there was this aptitude test. Then, for the ones who passed, there was an interview. Since I'm in Electronics and Communication Engineering, I was the only one selected from my batch. We were all called into a hall to wait for our turn for the interview. The MCA students went first, and their interview was just a GD. While their GD was happening, there was one person short in the last group, so they put me in it, and I had to do a GD too. After that, the selected candidates had their interview. The interviewer was from CSE, so they asked me coding questions. My friends from EE got asked questions related to their field. That's the part I didn't really like about the company.
- Can you introduce yourself?
- What motivates you to join our team?
- Could you discuss something about coding?
