Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at SMRT.
Maintenance Manager
Interviewed online with the business manager, manager, engineering maintenance manager and recruiter. Everyone was on time. Questions were relevant even though I have no prior rail experience.
- How do you learn about a department's systems and operations?
Assistant Manager
The interview was about an hour long and had four interviewers, two of whom were from HR. They asked questions about the job and how my experience aligns with the position. When asked if I could perform in the role, I said yes, and one interviewer made a comment about how I can now but it will be different later. I waited about three weeks for an offer call.
- Can you describe your previous work experience?
- How does your past experience relate to this role?
- Are you confident in your ability to fulfill the responsibilities of this position?
Management Trainee
There was a 1st online test which included a numerical test, verbal reasoning test, logical test, and a situational judgement test. Then a 2nd technical test with structured questions where you had to pick one engineering question to answer, plus a group case study that simulated a manager meeting with a simple business question. Finally, a 3rd panel interview with 2 interviewers and 3 interviewees.
- Can you tell me more about yourself?
