A relative told me the museum was hiring summer retail associates. I went in, asked for an application, filled it out, and turned it in. I followed up a few days later since I hadn't heard back and ended up filling out another application. Then, I was interviewed right away, given a tour of the movie theater area and gift shop, and introduced to someone more senior than my interviewer. I'm not sure why I didn't get an offer, a call, or even a rejection, so I stopped pursuing it because it felt like they were wasting my time.

I sent in my application and a letter. The manager got back to me and we set up a phone call. He already knew me. He asked about what school I'm currently attending, requested a writing sample, and then offered me the internship. After that, I had to go through a security check and was issued an ID.

I knew someone who knew someone so getting the interview was fairly easy (not sure how it is getting in without a contact). But the process, while simple enough- two interviews- was very long and drawn out and there was a lot of red tape. It took about six months from interview initiation until I was able to start. Quickly realized red tape held up the museum in every way possible. But still a lovely overall experience working here.
