First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Smiths Group.
Finance
The process was great, about 3 to 4 rounds total. It started with the basic application, then some literacy and numeracy tests. After that, there was a telephone interview, and finally an assessment day. I got a good insight into the business throughout the whole thing, which isn't something I'd experienced before when interviewing.
- Can you tell me about your greatest achievement?
Purchasing Assistant
The interview was about challenging questions relating to my previous work, my skills, and how they would be useful in this job. They asked about my experience dealing with senior stakeholders and what skills I'd bring to the company, also about my communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Tell me about your past work and skills, and how they can help you with senior stakeholders in this new role.
- What skills would you bring to this company?
- How good are your written and verbal communication skills?
Data Engineer
First round was a technical round. The interviewer was rude and did not show professionalism during interview process questioning my skills and abilities. I found it to be abusive. Hope the organization takes care of such details going forward. Company should look at overall personality of a candidate and not just the technical skills they possess before hiring for their company. Hope the company discuss with the interview panel and make sure they do not insult and do not overreact while interviewing candidates.
- Tell me about your experience with ADF.
- What do you know about data modelling concepts?
Product Manager
After applying to Smiths Power, a Smiths Groups company, the hiring manager reached out to schedule an interview. The interview was initially set for Skype but was later changed to a phone call. One of the first things he asked was when I received my degrees, which seemed to be his way of checking my age. I sent an email expressing I was no longer interested.
- When did you receive your degrees?
