First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at SmithRx.
Senior Technical Recruiter
The hiring process started off fast, talking to five people over two weeks. Then they asked for references, two from former direct managers. That took extra time because big companies often don't let current managers give references. I got recent managers, but they only called one reference. Soon after, I got a rejection email with standard feedback. It was surprising not to get a follow-up chat or closure, especially after the time I put in and giving a good reference, so it felt impersonal.
- What interview questions do you use to identify candidates worth moving forward with?
Data Analyst
The recruiter wasn't ready for the initial phone screen, not knowing the pay range for my location despite it being on my application. They later shared that the salary would be around 80k-90k for a role needing 3-5 years of experience, which is too low for SF and also they want everyone to work Pacific hours. I had a good interview with the hiring manager afterwards. Then, I was supposed to have a SQL interview with an employee, but I wasn't told it was a technical assessment beforehand. As I'm neurodivergent, live technical assessments are very distracting for me and I would have requested an accommodation. The rest of the interview process included three 30-minute interviews in a two-hour span. That evening, I got a call saying another candidate accepted their offer.
- They asked general questions.
Account Management Manager
Applied online and then received an email to schedule an interview. The interviewer called at the scheduled time and immediately began asking detailed questions about my previous three roles. The interviewer was unfriendly and direct, didn't allow for discussion, and asked questions that were already on my resume. I didn't have the exact experience they were looking for, even though I have many relevant and transferable skills. It was strange they set up an interview when it would have been obvious in 20 seconds that I hadn't worked in their specific industry, which they apparently required. This was the shortest, most direct, and most uncomfortable interview I've ever had.
- What is the size of your current team?
- Can you describe your responsibilities at x company?
Customer Success Manager
So the interview process started with the hiring manager, who is the VP of Customer Success. Then I had interviews with a Clinical Account Manager, and then the founder and CEO. These interviews were all back-to-back on consecutive days. After a week passed and I followed up, they set up another interview with a Customer Success Manager who has been in the role for over a year. This last interview was really tough because they sent me an Excel sheet to test my knowledge.
