Talent Acquisition Partner
The interview process had 2 stages of Zoom interviews with the Manager and Director, which were good experiences. This was followed by interviews with Sydney-based HR and senior stakeholders, which was an average experience. The final in-person interview involved addressing specific problems (x, y, z) in the role. I proposed solutions that had worked previously, but they were resistant to change, asking for solutions that would maintain their current methods while yielding different results, to which I obviously said no. Radio silence followed for weeks, with no response to me or the recruitment agency. Eventually, after I pushed for feedback, the Manager admitted they struggled with Sydney stakeholders and were considering hiring a more junior professional for volume. Some great aspects of the business were mentioned, but they were all located outside of Australia. There was a take-home assessment and an offer stage.
- Tell me about your experience managing difficult and noisy stakeholders.
- How do you approach managing expectations?
- Can you describe your methods for prioritization and organization?
Senior Talent Acquisition Specialist
I applied and the recruiter reached out quickly to schedule a phone interview with someone from the Talent Acquisition team in Memphis. The phone interview went well, but I was asked the same behavioral questions repeatedly by everyone I spoke with. They then invited me for an onsite interview where I faced the same behavioral questions again in a fast-paced sequence of interviews. After the last interview, the recruiter or interviewer didn't mention that someone wanted to have lunch with me, so I left without meeting her. The final interviewer, a Supply Chain leader, dominated the conversation and didn't let me speak. I felt the company wasn't interested in understanding my true self or my skills. Despite S&N being my top choice for employment in Memphis, this interview process revealed its disorganization. It took the recruiter four months to inform me of my rejection, citing a lack of Supply Chain experience, which was never a stated requirement. It was a terrible experience, and I'm relieved I didn't get the job, especially since the position is open again within a year.
- How do you handle disagreements with colleagues?
Talent Acquisition
It was a really good conversation. I felt respected and valued throughout the whole process. Communication was clear and quick right from the start, and setting up the interview was easy. The interview itself was organized and structured, which helped me show my skills and experience naturally.
- What's your approach when a hiring manager's expectations don't align with the talent available in the market?
