The process was fast and fun. After emailing my Resume and Portfolio to Canary, I heard back from James, the lead Industrial Designer, within 2 hours. We scheduled a phone interview for that week, which lasted about an hour. The questions were pretty straightforward, and there were a couple to check my understanding of ID. It was my favorite interview so far because his passion for the company was really evident and the transparency was refreshing. About a week later, I was told they went with a more experienced candidate. Although I didn't get the internship, I received great motivational feedback and an offer to help me with future opportunities in the NYC area.

The process was really long with barely any communication. After a phone interview, I was asked to do a homework assignment, but I had to chase them to get it. Once I finished and submitted it, I waited 8 days without any confirmation or feedback. They eventually contacted me with a question about the assignment, which I answered quickly. A few days after that, I was informed they were moving forward without me, even though I hadn't applied and they reached out. No feedback on the assignment was provided at all. Total waste of time.

Technical Other

The interview process started with a call with an external recruiter and the tech lead. After that, I was asked to do a project which I finished within the week. Then, I was scheduled for an onsite interview. However, they cancelled the night before and apologized, saying they hired someone else without giving me a chance to interview. It takes guts to apologize in person rather than send an email. Seriously, don't give projects to candidates and then not interview them. What a waste of my time.

I had a couple of phone interviews. First was with a recruiting manager, who was super nice. The second was with the head of staff, who was the opposite - hard to read, but it was an okay interview. I felt good about it, but they ended up ghosting me, which felt pretty unprofessional after all those interviews.
