Software Engineer
I had two interviews. First was a technical round focused on Android development. They asked a bunch of questions about custom content providers, content resolvers, editing contacts directly, libraries for editing contacts, differences between XML parsers (sax, dom, pull), contact edit URLs, handling configuration changes with EditText, intent filter categories, intent services vs services, recent web services used, supporting multiple screens with different densities, the difference between sp and px, when to use sp pixels, details on push notifications, density pixels, density-independent pixels, why we use Activity.class instead of .java files, the difference between byte code and hex code, Thread.sleep() and Thread.wait() in broadcast receivers, explaining DDMS in detail, sending objects between activities using bundles, explicit vs implicit intents, SQLite databases, the difference between content providers and SQLite databases, and creating your own content provider. They also asked me to verbally describe the code for editing a contact. Additionally, they inquired about pending intents and sticky intents. The second interview was with HR, where they asked about my previous salary, current salary expectations, notice period, and my reason for leaving my current job.
- Could you orally describe the code for editing a contact, specifically for a contact named Jones?
- Could you orally describe the code needed to edit a contact's name, for example, 'jones'?
