The interview process included a skills assessment, which was the Wonderlic Test, followed by an interview with a recruiter. I was informed they wanted to move forward, but it's been a month and I haven't heard back. Based on other reviews, ghosting seems common here. It felt unprofessional and like a waste of my time. I think the head of recruiting should fix their team instead of apologizing on Glassdoor. It doesn't seem like they've improved how they handle leaving candidates hanging.

So the interview process had a few steps: first, a chat with HR. Then, a technical interview with the hiring manager. After that, I got a test task. Then I had a technical interview to present and talk about the assignment. Finally, I interviewed with C-level execs and had a cultural fit interview with the team. The HR screening was good, and the hiring manager interview went well too. The test task itself wasn't too hard, but getting it to their level would probably take a whole workday, based on what they said later. They wanted user flows with wireframes, UI designs for some screens, and a detailed explanation of each step, either by video or something else. They gave me a week, but said they'd prefer it in 2-3 days. I waited over a week for feedback and then emailed them. I get the detailed feedback, but like I said, doing it to their standards takes a full workday. HR and hiring managers should remember candidates are usually talking to other companies too and can't spend all day on one test, just like they aren't talking to just one person.

Coding Technical System Design

It was a fully remote three stages interview process. The first step was a code review and refactoring task where I had to improve a piece of code. During this, they asked about essential .NET and async programming concepts. The second step was a design interview, where I had to design a link shortener.

I got contacted on LinkedIn by SmartCat and we set up a Google Meet interview. It was a pretty basic intake interview. I felt like I answered all their questions thoroughly, but maybe the interviewer wasn't technical enough to understand my answers, because the questions seemed a bit off. Anyway, regardless of whether they liked my answers, after taking an hour of my time and promising a response by Friday or Monday at the latest, they should at least respond. It's been a week and a half since I followed up and still nothing. Just tell me I didn't get the job, it's not that hard. Honestly, I prefer companies to show their hand early. If you don't value me when you're actively looking for someone, I doubt you'll value me once I'm hired. Also, when I asked about salary, they said they don't have a range but are 'always competitive,' which, let's be real, isn't attractive. Glad I only wasted time on this first interview. My advice: if they can't give you a salary range or a start date, just leave.
