First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at SmartBear.
Account Executive
I talked to 3 different people at different times. The second person I talked to was distracted and didn't pay attention. They initially said they liked me but then ghosted me and didn't give any feedback.
- Can you describe a typical day in your current role, including the volume of emails and calls you handle daily?
Enterprise Account Executive
I applied online and heard back from the recruiter pretty quickly. After some emails, I had a phone chat with them. The recruiter was super helpful, giving me lots of info about the company, my role, and the goals for the product I'd be selling. It felt like a natural conversation, which was cool. Next up was a 30-minute call with the hiring manager where we talked about my background. I was ready for it because of what the recruiter shared. Both the recruiter and hiring manager seemed really passionate about the company and products, which was a good sign. Then, I was invited to the office for an onsite interview. The recruiter met me, gave me a tour, and I met some friendly employees along the way. The office itself is amazing, overlooking the river and in a vibrant area with lots to do. I spent about 3.5 hours there, interviewing with the VP of Sales, CRO, Hiring Manager, and even did a video call with the Product Owner. The focus was on whether I'd fit the SmartBear culture and how I'd bring in new business. The team seems really collaborative. Within three days of the onsite, after checking references, I had a positive call with the recruiter. Soon after, I got an offer, which I accepted. Within three days of accepting, HR reached out to handle the initial onboarding paperwork, which was surprisingly smooth. Everyone involved was enthusiastic, especially the recruiter who made the whole experience great.
- Can you share an instance of how you've generated new business?
- Describe the most challenging or complicated sale you've made in your career.
Sales Executive
I went ahead with the interview process even with all the bad reviews because a former coworker, who knew the CRO, referred me. It was the same thing, two phone interviews and then an on-site with 4 more. I thought it went well, but they never responded and I emailed HR twice with no reply. I had hoped they'd fixed their process after seeing prior reviews. It was a complete waste of time and unprofessional. Beware!
