A recruiter reached out, and I went through three rounds of interviews. It was pretty standard stuff. But then after the last one, they ghosted me. I tried following up with the recruiter a few times, but nope, no response. Pretty frustrating to have my time wasted like that after they seemed interested.

SmartAsset is an attractive employer because of its innovative products and its talented, focused developers. However, the management is disorganized and dishonest with their interview process and feedback. Most steps had unclear next steps and were dragged out with conflicting email feedback. The hiring manager said he'd make an offer, then went silent and stopped responding to emails.

So I had a quick phone call first, they talked about the company and what they're looking for, and I talked about myself. Then I had a technical interview with an engineering manager. We started by me explaining what I've done, then I got a leetcode-style question and a follow-up about optimizing time/space. The last interview was actually 3 parts. First, I met with the manager and someone from the team I'd be joining. We chatted about my tech experience and how I handle different situations. Then, there was a tech screening about object-oriented design with 2 engineers, where we just talked about the design without any coding. Finally, I talked with a VP of engineering about bigger picture stuff like career goals. It was a good experience overall!
