I was emailed by the CEO to schedule an interview, and then heard back from President Luc Troussieux. He called for an initial phone interview, which was awkward. He asked about my background and why I thought I'd be a good fit, making me feel like I had to defend myself. When I arrived, he put me in a room to complete a personality test. He was rude, dismissive, and seemed to be using me to sell his product. He asked strange questions, ignored my answers, and even laughed at one. To finish, he gave me magazines and business cards to share with my "impressive" LinkedIn followers.

The hiring process started with a message to set up a phone interview. The president, Luc Troussieux, called exactly on time. He was really nice and friendly, making me feel comfortable. He asked about my background and told me about Smart Meetings. Then, I was scheduled for an in-person interview. On the interview day, Mr. Troussieux was polite and friendly and asked a lot of interesting questions. He also showed me around the office. He positively explained the results of my personality quiz. I met the CEO, who was very interesting and gave me a 'values' quiz. A few days later, Mr. Troussieux emailed me. He thanked me for interviewing and let me know, in a very nice way, that I wasn't chosen for the role. I emailed back to ask for feedback, and he kindly took the time to provide very honest and helpful feedback. This is why I'm giving them 5 stars for their interview process.

I applied through LinkedIn and got a quick call from Luc for a phone interview. I gave him my availability, but he missed the meeting because their office was closed for MLK day. I reached out again, and he apologized, realizing it was a holiday. We rescheduled, and I went to their Sausalito office. He had me take a personality test, which felt strange, but I did it. I met with two more people before meeting their CEO, Marin. I found her presence strong, potentially a leader or a narcissist. The initial salary offer was low, but they increased it due to my experience. About a week later, they scheduled round 2. They contacted me on a Wednesday to meet the following Tuesday. I confirmed on Friday. On Tuesday, just before I was about to leave, the CEO contacted me saying they were going in another direction. Her husband/President followed up minutes later, saying another employee was interested and they'd give them a shot. If they knew on Thursday, why confirm on Friday? They had three days to let me know. I almost traveled to Sausalito for nothing. It seems like I dodged a bullet dealing with a place with no regard for others.

Behavioral Technical Other

First there was a phone interview. Then I had two in-person interviews where I met with my potential boss and also the CEO and CFO (who is the CEO's husband). I also had to complete a personality test. They asked some good questions. I was given some inaccurate information about the work environment, though. The CFO tends to ask questions very rapidly, not giving much time to respond. The current staff doesn't seem very open to sharing their honest experiences at the company.

  • Let's discuss the personality test; what can you tell us about why you scored the way you did?
