Behavioral Technical Presentation

The interview process with Smart Pension lasted over 4 weeks and had three main stages. First was an initial screening with a recruiter, which was supposed to be 30 minutes but went for an hour. The recruiter explained the role and the company's future opportunities and challenges really well. It felt like a motivation and background check. Then, I met with two senior team members from the same department for an hour. They shared more details about the role, clients, and projects. This part was more about culture fit, asking how I'd handle client issues and what I do in my free time. The final stage involved meeting two directors/heads of departments for an hour. This was more technical, focusing on managing projects in event-based scenarios, Agile vs Waterfall, and my background with examples. Everyone was professional and kind, enthusiastic about learning about my experience. Although I didn't get the job because someone else had more pension experience, I'd still recommend Smart Pension based on the interview process.

Applied in September for a role, and the process took about a month. Didn't get it but was told I'd be a better fit for another upcoming role and to stay in touch. Got contacted in December about that role being approved, but interviews wouldn't be until January. Then went through two more interview stages, one in London which was a big time and personal commitment. Got good vibes throughout, felt like I was being considered seriously. But again, unsuccessful. Got the same generic rejection email both times, no real feedback, just that others were 'more aligned.' The whole thing took about six months, with lots of stages and travel, and it felt really impersonal and disappointing. I get not everyone gets an offer, but after all that time and effort, especially with travel, I expected better communication and feedback. It would help to know where I went wrong and if the encouragement to keep going was real. Still appreciate the time and the interviews themselves were professional. Just wanted to share my perspective because the overall experience didn't match the effort put in by both sides.

After I applied, they emailed me to invite me for an interview. I met with my future team manager and line manager. They asked me about my knowledge of Smart Pension and my skills. Then, I got a call to talk about the relocation timeline to London and my salary expectations. When they offered me the job, they confirmed all the role details. After I accepted, we went over the timeline until my start date. They kept in touch even during onboarding, and any questions I had were answered quickly.

I spoke with the internal recruiter, then the director of engineering, followed by an associate director and team lead, and finally the Engineering and Delivery Leader. I thought there would be another round with a key stakeholder, but I had other offers and missed that stage. The internal recruiter was great at keeping me updated and giving feedback throughout.
