First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Smarsh.
Software Engineer
The Smarsh interview process first had a written test for aptitude and coding. Then, a technical interview to check problem-solving and domain knowledge. Lastly, an HR interview for personality fit.
- Can you start with a self-introduction?
- Could you tell me about the projects you've worked on?
- I was given two problem statements and asked to write code, including an optimized version.
Software Engineer
It was a bad company with an old office and bad management. The first interview involved the interviewer mocking my coding skills. HR said I passed but also that my code wasn't good. The second interview was with a nice VP R&D, but he didn't know any new technology. HR then asked about my coding skills again, saying they weren't good compared to others (which makes me wonder why I was interviewed). She also re-asked about my salary expectations, and when I repeated the same amount as the first call, she claimed I had previously said $2,000 less.
- Could you design a caching mechanism for websites from the ground up?
Software Engineer
The interview process was smooth and hassle-free, thanks to the TA team. It started with a HackerRank Test in the 1st Round, which had DS and Algo questions. The 2nd Round was a Technical round focusing on Angular and Java. Then, the 3rd Round was another Technical round, this time focusing more on core Computer Science fundamentals rather than web technologies. After these three technical rounds, there were a couple of HR discussion rounds to wrap up the interview.
- How do you handle OutOfMemory errors in Java...?
- In Angular, how can custom pipes and custom directives be created..?
- Could you explain Multi-Threading and InterProcess Communication?
