The people at Smallwood were nice and the interview process was comfortable and insightful. It did take a while to get a hiring decision for the intern role, which could lead to false hope.

Got the interview through an employee referral, which was great. The first interview was with the head Experiential Graphic designer. We reviewed my portfolio, and I discussed my recent internships and favorite projects. The designer was patient with my English, as it's not my first language. After the interview, there was a delay in getting an answer, so I followed up via email. A few days later, I was invited back for a group interview. I prepared a presentation about my skills and what I could offer, as I felt they were still deciding. The group interview went really well, and they liked my presentation. I received the job offer a week later.

Back in 2006, all communication happened over the phone and email. The people I interacted with were all really helpful, friendly, and professional. The office itself was nice, though it could use some updates compared to newer places. I had one interview and surprisingly, they offered me more than I asked for. This was great because I never actually got a raise during the nearly three years I worked there, though I did get a yearly bonus which was a nice perk, as not everyone received one.

I had a casual chat with someone who works there, and they passed my resume along. Then I interviewed with a department associate, a principal, and the department leader. The interviews lasted about 45 minutes to an hour.
