First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at SlimGenics.
Weight Loss Counselor
I saw a job for Slimgenics on Indeed and they got back to me about an interview two days later. When I got there, it turned out to be a group interview. There were four of us. We were asked to bring our resumes and then taken to a room that looked like a classroom. The manager had us introduce ourselves and say why we wanted to work at slimgenics. They then went over the company's values and mission, pay and benefits, and working hours. After that, we each had a quick one-on-one interview in a different room. It was a pretty straightforward and speedy interview.
- In what ways do customer service and sales work together to help each other?
- Describe your approach to sales and upselling.
- Would you be willing to use Slimgenics products if you were hired?
Manager
Had a good interview with the hiring manager at a nice small company in Irvine. The interview started with a 15-minute presentation about the company using a flip chart. The product is a weight loss system. The role involves a 7-day training for counselors at $10/hr, with the expectation to sell products to clients. The company designs its own supplements. Managers get minimum wage but are promised a 3%-5% bonus on clinic sales. Although the clinics are new to California, they generate about $30k-75k in sales in Colorado. Manager training lasts 6 weeks at $15/hr. The work schedule is full-time only, Monday through Saturday, from 9 am to 6:30-7 pm.
- What makes you want to work for this company?
Program Advisor
The company masked itself as a nutrition company, but it's really all about sales once you get to the interview. The interviewing manager was incredibly insulting. I live a very healthy lifestyle and have lost a lot of weight on my own and am confident in myself. He told me I should get on the weight loss program so I can be more confident and people would take me seriously. So inappropriate, rude and telling of what kind of company this really is.
- Could you pick a product that you absolutely can't live without and then try to sell it to me?
Producer
The first interview was with 4 people who knew their stuff and could see I had the skills. We got along well and it was quick. The second interview was with the owner and President. The owner was unsure about what she wanted and couldn't even give me a job title. It seemed like they expected a lot for the pay offered. She was a contrast to the first group, who were great. I would have taken the job if it was just them.
- What is your definition of success?
