I spoke with the store manager. He started by complimenting my resume and then asked some standard questions about why I want to work for Sleep Number and why they should pick me. He was upfront about the job's difficulty, mentioning that poor sales performance leads to replacement. He also highlighted downsides like bad hours and poor work-life balance. Then, he gave me a quiz based on a selling strategy he explained, asking me to apply it. After that, I met two sales associates privately. I could have asked them questions, but the manager had already put me off the job, so I didn't engage much. They seemed uninterested too, making me eager to leave. About a week later, another Sleep Number location contacted me for an interview, but I ignored it due to the negative experience. I never received a rejection email from the first location.

The interview process was very detailed and informative, truly one of the best I've experienced. Both the store manager and the district manager were there, which seemed like a coincidence rather than the usual setup. They were direct and honest about what they expected, but kept the conversation relaxed and natural. Even with the District Manager present, I didn't feel intimidated or overwhelmed at all. I realize this style might not work for everyone, but it was perfect for me!

There's a diagnostic you do when you apply. Then a call from the Store Manager, who will ask basic questions about why you want to join the company. This is followed by a one-on-one with the SM, and then a second interview with the DM. The SM will ask you S.T.A.R. questions, and the DM's interview is pretty conversational, focusing on your previous job experiences. It's an easy interview process, and you don't need to do a presentation.
