SLB Engineering Intern Interview Questions
& Process

I applied through my campus internship portal and had my online interview in late 2024. It was a 30-minute dialogue with the hiring manager. They explained the job responsibilities after asking some basic, non-technical questions at the start. There was only one round. Some internships here are project-based with different requirements, and my role didn't need experience with technical tools beyond basic Ms Office. The interview was pretty casual, and the hiring manager answered my questions well.

Schlumberger came to Georgia Tech for on-campus recruiting for both full-time and internship jobs in their research-engineering-manufacturing-sustaining program. After we submitted resumes, some of us got called for about 45-minute interviews with a recruiter or technical person. They asked us both technical and HR questions, and went through our resumes with questions at relevant points. The interview seemed to go well. When I asked about the next steps, he said they would send an offer, not another interview. A week later, some of us got emails saying 'Congrats You're Selected' with more details to follow. The rest got rejects a week after that. Then, three weeks later, they called me saying they'd 'try till the end of the week and see if they could find me a perfect fit.' When I asked what he meant, he said he'd keep trying and 'tell me if he couldn't find a good fit,' totally avoiding how unfair this was after the earlier email. I emailed them multiple times after the week ended, but never heard back and didn't get a formal rejection. It wasted weeks, really set me back in my summer internship search, and was a very negative experience from a company that's supposed to be reputable.

The interview process was really intense but smooth overall. It was divided into 4 stages on the interview day. First was an ice breaker and self-introduction. Then came a team project where we had to build an oil rig using paper and tape. The criteria were using fewer materials, making the rig taller, and being able to support more weight. Teamwork and communication were key here. After that, there was an engineering knowledge test covering classical physics, electrical physics, math, English, and logical thinking. Finally, there was an individual interview with HR.
