Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at SLB.
Data Scientist
The interview had a technical round and then an HR round. Both had a mix of technical and HR questions. There was also a hackathon, and they selected candidates based on their performance in it.
- Tell me about the hackathon project, which involved Spotify data.
- How was the hackathon scored, and what was your experience with that?
- What kind of technical questions were asked in the rounds?
Data Scientist
It was a first round exam with highschool physics, mechanical engineering, maths and general questions. Then there was a second round HR interview with behavioural questions and a small technical written test about your specific field.
- What would be a deal breaker for you when considering employment at a company?
Data Science Intern
The 10-minute interview validation call was pretty chill, more like a chat than a formal interview. They really dug into what was on my CV, asking specific details about projects, the tough parts, and how I got through them. They seemed really interested in the background of my past jobs, the skills I used, and what happened as a result. They asked more questions to really get a feel for how I solve problems, work with others, and adjust to different things. This relaxed chat let me talk easily about my background and give a full picture of my work history. Basically, the validation call was for them to check my CV and see if I really knew my stuff and could handle real problems.
- Tell me about your experience building ML models at ... and what you did to improve prediction accuracy.
