So, the interview had a few parts. First, a recruiter called, and then there was a technical screening. They asked me some technical questions like: "What is the difference between a Stateful and Stateless firewall?" and "How do DNS and DHCP work in an enterprise environment?" They also wanted me to "Explain the OSI Model and which layers firewalls typically operate on (Layer 3/4 and Layer 7 for NGFWs)."

The first interview was with a recruiter who seemed knowledgeable about the company but didn't seem to know who I was or what role I applied for. The next interview was with the hiring manager, which was kind of awkward. It was supposed to be a video call, but she didn't turn on her video, and when I asked about it, she said, "Today is not a day that anyone needs to be seeing me." It was a bit weird talking to someone on video who wasn't showing their face, but I went with it. I felt the conversation was okay, but she didn't seem very engaged. I didn't hear back after that, and my follow-up email went unanswered. I guess I was ghosted, though I saw they hired someone else. I get that they might have felt someone else was a better fit, but the hiring manager's behavior and the company ghosting me felt really rude and inconsiderate. Apparently, this is pretty typical for them, which is a shame and pretty demoralizing.

I had a home test that I needed to finish in 2 hours. The first part involved calculating the area and circumference of different shapes. The second part was a Java coding challenge using Selenium where I had to perform some tests on a given website. After that, I had a 20-minute HR phone interview. Then, there was a technical interview with the team lead about the code I wrote for the home test. I didn't hear back for a week, so I emailed the recruiter and was then told I didn't pass. It was a bad experience.
