First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Skupos.
Data Analyst
Applied in early Dec 2022 and had the first interview mid-Jan 2023. The first interview was with the hiring manager, 1:1 for about 60 minutes. It was a normal and easy interview with some technical and some general background/experience questions. After the interview on Thursday, I was told I would receive a Test Data Project to complete by Saturday EOD. The interview was on Thursday, so I only had 1 business day to finish a project that ended up taking 6-8 hours. This is unreasonable, especially given my experience and portfolio. There was silence for almost two weeks before I got a boilerplate rejection email from a no-reply address. No feedback on the project I spent 8 hours on, just "receiving many qualified applicants".
- Can you introduce yourself?
- Could you walk me through a project you have worked on?
- What tools have you utilized in your past roles?
Software Developer
I applied online and got an email from HR inviting me for a phone interview, which lasted about 30 minutes and covered general screening questions. The interviewer said they'd contact me the following week about the next steps, but I never heard back. I reached out via email for an update, but received no response. I assume they chose other candidates. That's okay, I respect their decision if I don't fit their needs, but it would have been good to at least get an email saying so. Good luck to the startup, but please improve how you handle candidates who don't move forward; it feels disrespectful.
- Do you lean more towards frontend or backend development work?
Sales Associate
Interviewing with Skupos was a great experience. The hiring manager was easygoing and asked good questions that felt more like a conversation. The process was quick: first a video call, then a round with a couple of sales team managers, and finally a meeting with the VP of Sales. Everyone was really nice and seemed interested in getting to know me and assessing my fit for the company. The company culture really stood out and seemed awesome.
- Questions about your personality and cultural fit for the company.
Data Scientist
After an initial screening call, there's a technical video screen. They don't explain how the technical screen is done, possibly because they're unsure themselves. The senior data scientist conducts it, but it feels like they're just asking whatever comes to mind. It's very unstructured and feels like a pop quiz where you might be asked about anything based on the interviewer's mood.
- Expect to be tested on a wide range of topics.
