First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Skillz.
Software Engineer Intern
The overall process was good. I had an intro call that was followed by a coding test and then two more interviews. They asked my role preferences and I gave them my priority order.
- Could you share a bit about yourself?
Data Analyst
The recruiter and hiring manager were nice. The interview process is too time consuming and not respectful of the candidate's time. They had a 6 hour take home and then wanted the candidate to play video games on skillz for hours.
- Could you tell me about your experience?
- We'd like to see your SQL assessment.
Product Analyst
The whole process took about 4 weeks. It included 1 initial HR phone screen and then 5 rounds of interviews total. There were two hiring manager screens and three case rounds. The cases covered a/b testing, user acquisition, and brainstorming.
- Tell me about your SQL experience and your comfort level with analytics tools.
- What would you consider your biggest strength?
- How do you handle conflicts?
Senior Recruiter
They sent a long assessment, about 2 hours long. Even though I'm super qualified and did my best to answer as if I worked there, I just got a standard rejection. I should have read reviews first, looks like I avoided a bad situation.
- Draft a strategy to contact five ideal passive candidates for a challenging role at Skillz, assuming they have no online presence, limited to 300 words.
