It was straightforward. They walked through my CV and asked about basic competencies. I might have been interviewed by different sector groups, which could result in having a choice of which sector group to join if I got an offer.

It was a four stage process, a bit different since it was an internal role. First, there was an initial telephone screen, which was pretty standard, covering my CV and checking my motivation. Then, I had two rounds of formal face-to-face interviews. After that, an assessment based on three psychometric tests – the results were useful for my onboarding. Finally, there was an informal breakfast, which is a typical 'get to know you' meeting before an offer is made.

There were four of us in a morning session. Initially we were all spoken to together about what the day encompassed. There were then a series for 4 interviews, all testing nuanced competencies. These included things like motivation, commitment, openness, ability to build rapport, emotional intelligence etc. Its a people business, and to get the rest reaction from the interviewers you need to show knowledge of what the business does, why they do it, and then also a natural networking talent. The morning session finished with a lunch attended by current associates so that we could ask them questions about their backgrounds and what it was like to work at Skillcapital

Nachdem ich mich online beworben hatte, erhielt ich innerhalb von zwei Wochen eine E-Mail mit einer Einladung zu einem telefonischen Erstgespräch. Dieses erste Telefongespräch war ein allgemeines Kennenlernen. Etwa eine Woche später wurde ich zu einem persönlichen Gespräch eingeladen. Dort gab es drei Runden mit drei verschiedenen Personen: zwei Senior-Gesellschafter und ein Partner. Die Fragen waren hauptsächlich passend und persönlichkeitsbezogen, mit einigen vertiefenden Fragen zu Branchenkenntnissen. Alle drei Interviewer waren nett und sympathisch.
