First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Skidmore, Owings & Merrill.
Project Coordinator
You'll start with a quick chat with the HR manager. If that goes well, you'll come into the office for interviews with the project managers you'd be working with. They'll ask you more questions about your background and how you've dealt with tough situations. You'll get a call to let you know if you got the job.
- What makes you want to work here?
- Can you describe your strengths and weaknesses?
- What experiences do you have?
Project Coordinator
I applied and then had a phone screen. After that, I moved to an in-person interview where I met with two HR managers. Then, I was asked back to meet with the HR Manager and my potential boss. The next phase involved a request for references. After hearing nothing for over a week, I reached out for a status update and received a generic email thanking me for my time, implying the interviews and reference request never happened, with no explanation.
- How do you handle being overwhelmed?
- Describe a time you had to work with a difficult person and what you did.
- What are your goals for the upcoming year?
Project Coordinator
They seemed really unprepared for the interview. I followed the meeting directions and waited over 20 minutes. There was poor communication on their end. When the interview finally started, they still seemed unprepared. They didn't have questions ready and couldn't give much detail about the training or the job. To make it worse, one interviewer was on his phone most of the time. I get they might have been busy, but the whole thing felt rude and like they didn't care about my time.
