First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at SKH Family Law and Estate Planning.
Attorney
The interviewer was really open, which helped me figure out if it was a good fit. The person who interviewed me wasn't the one I was supposed to meet with, and I think that made things a bit less formal and more honest.
- Would you be okay with a specific salary range, knowing there could be raises later based on how well you do?
Administrative Assistant
This was the worst interview experience I've ever had. I was sent a really strict and sexist dress code, and I felt super out of place and unwelcome. I was supposed to meet with the office manager and Jody Stahancyk's assistant, but Jody herself called us into her office. She started giving me 'lessons,' which were basically just bragging or insults. She even did a 5-minute pitch about why she gets all the guys at parties, which had nothing to do with the job. Then she asked me only two questions that barely related to my experience. When I asked my questions about the role, she accused me of stealing them from a book and said they were none of my business, comparing them to asking about her net worth. She said, "something we don't tolerate here is sympathy, because sympathy is next to syphilis in the dictionary, and I'd rather have syphilis because there's a cure." Jody also mentioned that one of her employees went to school with me and found me on Facebook, saying we had friends in common. But after the interview, I couldn't find any record of that employee working there or even being interested in law. The whole interview was Jody yelling and bullying me while the assistants just watched. Her office door was open, and other staff were watching too. I got a rejection email three minutes after leaving, which was a relief. I felt belittled and bullied, and I wouldn't recommend this place. I've since found a great job that actually supports growth and mentorship, proving you don't need to work at Stahancyk, Kent, and Hook to succeed.
- Is it your genuine desire to be employed at this company?
Marketing
I applied for the paid internship and heard back about a week later, when I was scheduled for an interview. I came into the interview and I was offered water or coffee while I waited. The marketing manager simply asked me how I would handle what she currently had on her desk. It was a fun interview and I felt like I could let my creativity and thought process be heard throughout. After the interview I was told I would hear back later that day and only a couple of hours later I was offered the position. This case might only have happened this quickly because it was a great interview and I had a good resume an cover letter. I feel this place knows who they like and believe in right away. They don't waste time.

Administrative Assistant
I filled out some paperwork online, submitted my application, and was told to wait a few days. Then I got a call the next day to chat about my application and experience. And then they gave me a job offer the day after that.
