The interview process was simple and straightforward. The hiring manager and HR were helpful and friendly! I would recommend this team to individuals who are interested in helping solve the childcare shortage in USA! I would interview again if there was an appropriate role.

Behavioral Technical

I saw the job posting on LinkedIn and applied with my resume, cover letter, and a short response about what makes me unique, which I guess is like a tweet since it's for social media. They got back to me in about a week and emailed to set up a phone interview. It went really well, the HR person seemed to know a lot about marketing and the company brand. She mentioned the marketing team had already seen my application and liked me, which was awesome. I was super excited after the call and was told I'd hear back in a week for in-person interviews in their downtown Chicago office, but I never did. The phone interview itself was great though, she was really engaging and positive and seemed to love the Sittercity (and Chime) brand.

It kicked off with a recruiter phone screen, followed by a chill 30-minute chat with the CTO about my past work and the job. Then came a tough take-home coding challenge where I had to build a responsive UI from scratch, matching designs for desktop and mobile, and pull data from an API. This was the hardest part. I sent it in on a weekend and got feedback by Monday. The same week, I had a 3-hour virtual onsite with 8 people split into 4 groups, each talking for 45 minutes. First, I met with product/design, then a design prompt with engineers, then a behavioral chat with the engineering director, and finally, we reviewed the coding challenge and did some pair programming with more engineers. Even though it was long, it was a great experience because everyone was super friendly and communicative. I got feedback the same day and an offer the next.

Behavioral Coding

First, I had a call with a contracted HR person. The first meeting was a no-show from their side, so I had to reschedule. After that, I was sent a coding challenge. This coding challenge felt a lot like free work for them. No front end was actually created, and no external packages were used or suggested. They did mention I could use external packages, but they really wanted to see my work shine through, which I think meant they wanted me to design their UI elements from scratch. I wasn't allowed to post it publicly, and it included explicit designs (in .jpeg format) that I had to follow. They didn't provide any assets, like a logo, but they did show them in the designs I needed to follow. They also said the code needed to be responsive on mobile, and they provided both desktop and mobile designs.
